As we head into the winter months patients across the country are looking for an anti-inflammatory medicine that works consistently with very little side effects. In today’s article, THC Living will be spending a little time on how CBD is a great replacement for Ibuprofen.
Ibuprofen has been the goto OTC product of choice when it comes to anti-inflammatory medicine despite it has been dealt with some unfavorable side effects due to long term use. Some of those side effects include intestinal bleeding, higher risk of heart attacks, and weakening bone strength. Along comes, CBD is also known as cannabidiol which has proven to be safer and very little adverse side effects.
Research shows that CBD has anti-inflammatory properties as well as dealing a blow to related pain coming from inflammation. CBD is beneficial for neuropathic pain and multiple-sclerosis spasticity. When it comes to other types of pain research suggests a combination of CBD with THC works best. Products that are full spectrum which is defined as whole plant vs just specific extracted cannabinoids are the most effective due to the Entourage Effect allowing for a patient to experience in-depth pain relief.
CBD is known to be far more tolerable in comparison to Ibuprofen for taking it over long periods of time, unlike ibuprofen which doctors do not recommend for long term use. Even under high doses of CBD patients are able to tolerate CBD better than ibuprofen. The FDA - Federal Food and Drug Administration - has even approved Epidiolex for treating childhood intractable epilepsy made from cannabis extract and not a synthetic. The DEA - Drug Enforcement Administration - rescheduled CBD from a Schedule 1 narcotic to a Schedule 5 which means it can be used medically with no known abuse. One thing to know only CBD FDA approved is allowed to be rescheduled from Schedule 1 to Schedule 5 while products that are naturally high CBD strains will continue to be Schedule 1.
As research picks up speed on CBD it is in the hope of THC Living that CBD will be far more beneficial for long-term use and other chronic pain conditions. Research also suggests patients across the country are using CBD daily replacing OTC pain medication.
